JULY HAPPENINGS

Wii Bowling League:  We have someone here that will teach you how to play. Come join in the fun and get out of the house! Our fall league will start in September.

July 1-4 – Fairport Mardi Gras
      July 1 – Kid’s Day (1pm – 5pm)
      July 2 – Veteran’s Day (1pm – 5pm)
      July 3 – Senior’s Day (1pm – 5pm)««  (FREE transportation provided from Center­ please sign-up now)
      July 4 – Gigantic Fire Works Display on the Beach

July 12 – Council on Aging’s Information & AssistanceSpecialist, Jackie Oliverio, will be here at 10am. She’ll be ready to answer questions and to provide assistance on the program, services and resources available to you, such as Senior Farmers’ Market, Nutrition Program, Summer Crisis Program and Medicare Open Enrollment. She will also help with HEAP applications. Please have your current gas bill, electric bill, bank statement, social security award letter, proof of pension, 90 days of pay stubs, and verification of health insurance premiums.

July 14 – Lake Health/HChoice Health Fair from 10am - Noon. Lake Health will be doing free blood pressure, glucose, and bone density screenings. We will also have Sandy Elmsworth with Howard Hanna, Laketran, Kindred Taylor Home Health Care, Morris Chiropractic, Solutions Home Medical Supplies, Jen from Kemper House, HChoice and more. We will be serving refreshments & there will be prize give aways.

July 19 – Pancakes in the Park. We will meet at Fairport Beach @ 9am. FREE. Must sign up & drive on your own.

July 20 @ Noon – “Script Your Family’s Future” with Sharon from Edward Jones. Please plan to attend this free seminar which will encompass asset transfers, incapacity protection, etc. Light snacks will be provided.

July 25-30 – 2017 Lake County Fair. Calling all artists, handcrafters and collectors. You are invited to become a part of the Lake County Fair by displaying your artwork, handcrafted items and collections. The information & applications you will need to display your items is available at the Center. Sharing your talents & collections is part of the joy of creating & collecting.

July 25 @ 1pm – Cooking with Jim:  Come watch Jim cook up something tasty. If you have any suggestions, and would like to learn how to make something special, let us know.

July 27 @ 1pm – Greeting Cards with KindredThis is free event. Please sign-up as we need to have a count.

July 28 – Red Hat Luncheon:  We are going to meet at Brennan’s Fish House at noon. Please call Lydia Lewis at 440-867-1384 so that she can make reservations.

August 3 @ 12:30pm – Kemper House will be presenting a talk regarding nutrition.
Please sign up. Refreshments will be served.

August 8 – Potluck will be fried chicken, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, rolls and dessert. We will also have entertainment. Cost $10/pp.

August 10 – Lifeline through Council on Aging’s “Summer Crisis Program”.
This program is designed to help qualified households pay for summer cooling. Schedule an appointment with a Lifeline rep to see if you quality for these benefits. Appointments start at 8:30am until 12:15pm and will last approximately 45 minutes. Please sign up for your appointment now.

August 13 – Make & Take Paint Class.
Come spend a relaxing evening painting. Cost of class is $25/pp and includes everything to paint your painting. Must prepay and pre-register as class is filling up fast! More information to follow.

August 23 – Pancakes in the Park.
We will meet at the Environmental Learning Center @ 9am. FREE. Must sign up & drive on your own.

November 2 @ 11:30am – Haas Healthcare Solutions.
The open enrollment period for Medicare and/or Medicaid for eligible seniors to enroll in an Advantage or Supplement Plan (in addition to your Medicare benefits) is Oct. 15 – Dec. 7. Vesna will meet with individuals on a one-to-one basis, answer questions, inform them of what options they have available, etc. Each individual appointment will be approximately 20 minutes. Please sign up today.

November 4 – Craft Show. If interested in reserving a table, please call the Center. If you would like to donate new items for our Chinese Auction, please drop them off at the Center.
