Wii Bowling League:
Our fall league has started. Come join in the fun and get out of the house! We have someone here that will teach you how to play. (We are also looking for someone to organize the teams and to help with the banquet. If interested, please see Chris.)

Rock Painting:
We have started painting rocks at our Center and hiding them throughout the county and out of state. If you would like to join us, stop in at the Center, paint a rock, add a sticker, and then hide your rock. The idea is to decorate rocks and hide them in various places and when found will brighten up someone’s day!

October TBA– “Matter of Balance”.
We now have two certified instructors. Please sign up and include your phone number. We will call you when we have a minimum of 8 people who can commit to all eight, 2-hour classes. A workbook will be proved. Free. This class will be offered on Fridays at 1:15pm.

October 9 – Columbus Day. Office closed.

October 10 – POTLUCK @ 5pm.
Potluck is back! We will provide the stuffed peppers and dessert while YOU provide the side dishes. Please bring enough for at least 8 people.

October 11 – Council on Aging’s Information & Assistance @ 10am:
Specialist, Jackie Oliverio will be ready to answer questions & to provide assistance on the program, services, & resources available to you, such as Senior Farmers’ Market, Nutrition Program, Summer Crisis Program & Medicare Open Enrollment. She will also help with HEAP applications. Please have your current gas bill, electric bill, bank statement, social security award letter, proof of pension, 90 days of pay stubs, & verification of health insurance premiums.

October 12 @ Noon Lake County Council of Aging will be here to assist you with all of your Medicare needs. Open enrollment begins Oct. 15 thru December 7. This is your opportunity to review your Medicare coverage for 2018 and to understand your options. If you are interested in having a Part D comparison, please bring a list of your medications with the dosage and quantity. There will be no sales pressure for this event. Please sign up.

October 13 @ 10:00am Medical Mutual will be here to help answer questions regarding Medicare Advantage Plan. Stop in with any questions regarding the advantage plan and let Roy assist you. University Hospitals are now in their Advantage Plan. Please bring a list of your doctors and your medications.

October 15 – Make & Take Paint Class.
Come spend a relaxing evening painting. Cost of class is $25/pp Senior ($30/pp non-senior) and includes everything to paint your painting. Must prepay and pre-register as class is filling up fast! More information to follow.

October 24 from 1:00 to 3:00pm – Flu shots will be available at the Center provided by Lake County Health. The Health District will accept Medicaid, Medicare Part B and several private insurances for those who qualify. Otherwise, the cost of the standard flu vaccine is $30 and the high dose is $50. Bring all insurance cards. Register now for an appointment.

October 26 @ 11:00am – Council on Aging – Vial of Life Assistance:
Assistance will be provided to help you fill out or update your “Vial of Life”. This is a simple form containing medical & emergency information that is placed on the right side of the refrigerator. To ensure the form is filled out completely and legible, please bring (1) current medical conditions & whether you take medicine for each of them; (2) primary physician’s name & phone number; (3) any additional physicians & phone numbers; (4) name, relationship to you, home, work, cell phone numbers of 2 people who you would choose to be your emergency contacts; (5) your Medicare insurance number; (6) your secondary medical insurance company name & contract number; and (7) whether or not you have a living will, a durable power of attorney for health care, and/or a do not resuscitate order & if so, their location(s). Please register now.

October 26 @ 1pm – Greeting Cards with Heartland of Mentor.
Kamila McQuaid will be here to help you create greeting cards. This is free event. Please sign-up as we need to have a count.

October 27 – Red Hat Luncheon:  We are going to meet at the El Taco Macho (near Pat Catan’s) Restaurant at noon. PLEASE NOTE, there will be NO BUS SERVICE this month. Please sign up.

October 31 @ 2pm – Cooking with Jim:  Come watch Jim cook up something tasty. If you have any suggestions, and would like to learn how to make something special, please let us know. Please note that the time is 2pm this month.

November 2 @ 11:30am – Haas Healthcare Solutions.
The open enrollment period for Medicare and/or Medicaid for eligible seniors to enroll in an Advantage or Supplement Plan (in addition to your Medicare benefits) is Oct. 15 – Dec. 7. Vesna will meet with individuals on a one-to-one basis, answer questions, inform them of what options they have available, etc. Each individual appointment will be approximately 20 minutes. Please sign up today.

November 4 – Craft Show.
If interested in reserving a table, please call the Center. A 6-foot table is $10. If you need electricity, please let Chris know ASAP. If you would like to donate new items for our Chinese Auction, please drop them off at the Center. We are also having a bake sale. If you would like to donate to our bake sale, please drop off all baked goods to the Center by Friday, November 3.

November 8 – “Volunteers” Luncheon.
As a thank you to our volunteers, the Center would like to invite you to lunch. Please stop by and have a slice of pizza, salad, dessert, and beverage. Once again, thank you for your time in supporting our Center and making it so successful!

November 19 – Bingo Bash from 1:00 to 4:00pm. Tickets are $10 and includes bingo cards for 21 games and dauber. Extra sets $10. Refreshments available for purchase. November 28 – The Fairport Harding High School will be frying up Perch that they caught & would like to serve our seniors. They will also be talking about their business of making lures.
They will serve at 5pm & right after will be discussing their business. You must sign up as we can only take 100 people.

November 30 – Christmas Cards from 1:00 to 3:00pm with Heartland of Mentor.
Get a start on your Christmas cards! Kamila McQuaid will be here to assist you with creating your Christmas cards.
